These Protea relatives are relatively easy to grow in our mild climate. All are native to Australia and can tolerate extended dry periods once established. The flowers appear clustered along an erect spike, giving the impression of candles nestled in the foliage. Hummingbirds (& people) find them irresistible. Look for the following species in our Dry Ideas Section: B. ericifolia, B. grandis, B. integrifolia, B. menziesii, B. speciosa, and B. spinulosa, and many more.
