Summer + Fall Events at Berkeley Hort
Mark your calendars and make plans to join us in August, September, and October for several special weekend events at Berkeley Hort. As the spring and summer planting season starts to wind down, we’ll be taking time to celebrate 95 years of putting down roots in the neighborhood with parties featuring some of our favorite things, and we’re inviting all of our favorite customers. Stay tuned for more details. Here is a preview of what we’ve got in the works:
Art in the Nursery
Saturday, August 26 • 11 am to 3 pm
Come meet local artists and admire their artwork in a gardenlike setting where both the art and the garden are for sale! Find your muse while enjoying live music and more.
Tomato Tasting
Saturday, September 9 • 10 am to noon
with Tomatogals Peggy and Helen of Kassenhoff Growers
Sample a generous selection of tomato varieties and see which ones you might like to grow next year. David Gans will serenade us with music as we taste, exclaim and debate which most beautiful, most delicious tomato deserves to be voted Best of the Tasting. Snacks will be provided.
The 4th Annual Nevada County Fiber Arts Trunk Show
Saturday, October 7 • 10 am to 3 pm
The Nevada County Fiber Artists will be back for this always fun event, sharing their beautiful homegrown and handmade items. There will be food and music, plus a weaving demonstration on a rigid heddle loom.
Planning Your Winter Veggie Garden
Sunday, October 22 • 1 pm
with Dan Lehrer of Flatland Farm
Harvest time festivities with live music, food and expert advice on planning and planting your cool season edibles. Come get a taste for winter veggies and grow your gardening know-how!
Of course, each month we’re still announcing surprise 95th Anniversary gifts for the first 95 customers of the day, and there are more raffles yet to come! You can keep track of what’s happening @berkeleyhort on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, or just stop by often and ask what’s new —it’s always nice to see you.
