Mel Pepper

As a fourth generation San Francisco native Mel knows a bit about local gardening. During her college days at UC Santa Cruz she focused on Community Studies/Food & Agriculture. Before arriving at BHN in 2016, she was involved in school garden programs working with K-5th graders. One of her passions is spending time outdoors, and she is still an avid backpacker, having covered some 400 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail so far! At the nursery she tends our Vegetables and Herbs departments. Talented at reaching out to our gardening public with pertinent information about our plants, she devotes much of her time to making demonstration plantings. Always on the “sunny side,” we’re pleased to have found her.
