Fragrant wreaths, fir garland, and other holiday greenery, including orchids, poinsettias, amaryllis, and cyclamen, will be in good supply at the nursery starting in late November. By then Berkeley Hort’s cheerful-ish elves will also have stocked the store with festive dry goods. These will include greeting cards, 2010 calendars, books, windchimes, nature-inspired ornaments, Bonny Doon Farms lotions and salves, and Juniper Ridge soap, incense and tea made from California native plants. Also: birdfeeders, birdbaths, gift certificates, and the usual eclectic assortment of gloves, kneepads, pruners, and other essential tools for gardeners. Sadly, there will be no pear trees at the nursery, with or without partridges, until January, but if your true love is a true gardener, he or she may appreciate even more the gift of a sack of jolly composting worms. Cheers!
